ASUS PRO60e - WinDoze Installation

Asus F6P site has only drivers for Vista. Anyway, most of them will work properly also on XP Pro.

A problem comes with the SATA drive, which is impossibile to detect and use under XP. A solution is recommended on Asus forums, which basically involves the following steps:

  1. configure the BIOS to run SATA drive in "Compatible" mode
  2. do a standard XP Pro install
  3. install Intel SATA driver
  4. configure BIOS to run SATA normally
  5. finish XP installation, adding the relevant drivers

More in detail, here's Asus recommended procedure for XP downgrade:

  • In BIOS, at Advanced/IDE Configfuration, set SATA Operation Mode to Compatible.
  • Do a standard XP Pro installation

  • Install SATA support:
    1. Extract the driver, double clicking the 7kim04ww.exe file, to C:\DRIVERS\WIN\IMSM
